삶의 감각

<What a wonderful world>에서 평소 귀기울이지 않던 마지막 단락의 가사가 오늘은 크게 다가왔다.

"아이들의 울음소리를 듣고
그들이 자라나는 것을 본다
아이들은 내가 알게 될 것보다
더 많은 것을 배우겠지
스스로 생각해본다
이 얼마나 멋진 세상인가"

가사 전문을 치유일기에 옮겨 적고 나도 생각했다.

내가 할 일은 많거나 크지 않다.
그 일이 되고 안되고는 세상에 큰 영향을 끼치지 않을 것이다.

내 할 만큼 하고 동세대와 다음 세대에 그들의 몫으로 남기는 것이다.
그들에게도 하늘과 장미와 무지개와 "잘 지내느냐" 묻는 이웃과 아이들이 있을 것이니.

나 자신을 믿을 수 있는 만큼 타인도, 세상도 신뢰할 수 있다.
자존감과 존경심은 비례한다.
